Mexican marathon runner set for December return
Mexico's Madai Perez, the fastest female marathon runner in the history of Latin America, has recovered from the injury that prevented her from competing in the London Olympics and will be back on track for the Cancun Half Marathon on Dec. 9, the athlete said.
Meanwhile German Silva, coach of the 2011 Pan American Games silver medalist, told Efe that Madai "is now in good health" and will return to run a marathon "next April in fast company that could be in London, Rotterdam or Paris."
"We have another possibility in Boston, but the weather there is very unpredictable," he said.
Madai, 32, has a personal marathon record of 2:22:59, the fastest ever run by a female athlete from Latin America, but in recent years she has not approached that mark.
