RV Insurance for Mexico

So you are almost ready to hit the road in your family RV for the great country of Mexico. The open roads, cloud shrouded misty mountains and sun-kissed beaches beckon. At the last minute, you remember--insurance! Thankfully, you can buy Mexican insurance online and in minutes print your policy and proceed with your journey. First, though, you must choose a Mexican online insurance company to purchase your policy from. There are many companies to choose from, and not all are equal in coverage, benefits, and pricing. Here are some questions to consider when you make your search, so you can get out of the house and on the road.

  1. What is the company's A.M. Best Company Rating? When shopping for Mexican insurance online, ask the company representative what the A.M. Best Company ratings are for the companies they issue their policies from. The A.M. Best Companyis an independent research and analysis company that rates the creditworthiness of an issuer or debt obligation. Make sure the policy you are buying is from a Mexico auto insurance company with an "excellent" or "good" rating to ensure you are dealing with a reputable company.

  2. Will your policy allow you to have your vehicle repaired or replaced in the U.S.? Some Mexican insurance companies will not allow you to have your vehicle repaired in the U.S. When you are buying Mexican insurance online, you want to ask the online insurance company what their policy is not only on repairs, but for the hourly labor rate they pay for repairs in the U.S. It may not seem like a big deal at the time, but if you are in an accident you don't want to be stuck in Mexico waiting (and waiting) for your car to be fixed by a Mexican mechanic.

  3. Can I supplement my auto policy with travelers insurance with the company? Some Mexican insurance online companies offer you additional travelers insurance, including medical coverage. Adding a travelers' medical insurance policy to your insurance policy insures that not only your car is covered in the event of an accident, but also that you are protected in the case of an emergency illness.

  4. Is my credit card information secure using the company's online payment method? Make sure that the Mexican insurance online company you choose has an online security system for credit card transactions, since that is how you will normally be paying for your Mexican insurance online. Companies that encrypt their transactions are preferable in terms of security and privacy.

  5. What kind of customer service does the company offer? It's not going to matter what kind of policy you have if you are not able to reach a live person by phone in the case of an accident. Make sure the Mexican insurance online company you choose has reputation for excellent customer service. One way to measure a company's success is how long the company has been in business. Companies that have been selling Mexican insurance online for years and are recognized as experts in Mexican insurance are probably going to be able to offer you the best customer service.
