Ballet Folklorico Ixtlazihuatl in Rosarito Beach
In 1986, Prof. Efrain Preciado Lopez moved to Rosarito Beach. He started his career at the Rosarito Beach Hotel where he began working in the kitchen. Through the years, he has worked his way up the ladder, and he is now the Assistant Manager. However, in his early years, he wondered why the community did not have a ballet folklorico. Efrain, after studying at the Nayarit Arte School, learning all types of dance, decided it was time to create a group in Rosarito.
Efrain placed a few ads in the newspaper explaining his ideas. Then, in March, 1991, the Ballet Folklorico Ixlazihuatl was born. Three years later, his sister, Yolanda Preciado moved here from Colima. She is also a large part of the dancing programs in Rosarito. Aside from working with a group of youngsters, training them in this precise dance, she also designs and creates all of the outfits for the women in Efrain’s group.
