The Aubanel Wind Power project in Tecate, Baja, Mexico will be one of the largest wind power sites in North America.

Gamesa is the wind turbine manufacturer and Cannon Power Group is the developer on the project. They set up a 10-year exclusivity agreement to work together on the "Aubanel Wind Power Project" that will start with the development of 70 MW to 100 MW of power in phase one. Gamesa is a Spain-based company that will supply all of the wind turbines installed at farm sites developed by Cannon in Baja. Gamesa will also provide support and maintenance, and some development services.

The groundbreaking for the Aubanel wind farm is scheduled for sometime in the next 12 months, with additional construction taking place over the next 3-4 years. This major cross-border wind project is expected to stimulate the region's economy, while providing clean energy for over 250,000 households in Baja.

Aubanel wind farm will be located near the town of La Rumorosa, approximately 60 miles/97 km east of San Diego and 15 miles/24 km south of the U.S.-Mexico border.
