Soumaya MuseumWe were whisked off to the city center to take in its thriving museum scene. We visited the National Museum of Anthropology and toured the Zocalo (formally known as Plaza de la Constitucion), where we saw the National Palace, the Cathedral and the Grand Temple.

Guests in town for a quick weekend jaunt won’t want to miss the Soumaya Museum, which opened in 2011. It houses 66,000 pieces of the private collection of the Carlos Slim Foundation.

Suggest clients also make it a point to visit the colorful Coyoacan district, home to Casa Azul, the Frida Kahlo Museum. Travelers should spend the day walking the thriving streets, sampling local food, visiting markets and stopping at the historic cathedral.
